Common symptoms are burning when urinating, feeling you have not emptied your bladder completely, pelvic pain, blood in the urine.
When this type of infection occurs often and/or occurs following sexual activity, it is important to undergo investigations including a PCR test to assess for Ureaplasma, Mycoplasma, Gardnerella, Trichomonas, which are a very frequent cause of these symptoms.
